Getting ready to frame your embroidery hoop

How to Frame your Embroidery Hoop

Framing a piece of stitching doesn’t have to be expensive or difficult. Modern Hoopla frames were invented so that specialty framing shops are no longer necessary. Your hoop will keep the fabric tension and pop right into the back of the frame. No glue. No fasteners. No damage to your stitching.

6 Quick Steps to install your hoop:

Step 1: Check that your hoop fits in the frame. Place it in the recess on the back of the frame. There’s extra space cut out to accommodate your hoop’s screw hardware. (Here’s more info on measuring your hoop and picking the right size frame.)

Step 2: Look at your hoop/frame from the front and shift your hoop around to center it. (oh hey! that looks great!) There’s a little bit of wiggle room built in so that you can make these minor adjustments.

Step 3: While you hold the hoop in position, place the frame on a table, face-down.

Step 4: Tear off a few of the cardboard shims that came with your frame. They are stapled to the Instruction card or the label. If you have large gaps to fill between your hoop and the frame, fold the cardboard pieces in half or in thirds to make them thicker. If the gaps are small, use the shims unfolded.

Step 5: Hold the position of the hoop (relative to the frame) with one hand while you tuck the cardboard shims into the gaps between the hoop and frame. Put them on opposite sides of the circle to stabilize the placement of the hoop.

Step 6: Once you’ve added 2-4 shims, you’re hoop should be tucked in securely! It’s time to admire your work and hang it up!
