Purple Be-ribboned Journal Cover
Here's another example I've put together, this time with video.

I'd rather be stitching than editing videos. :) I've uploaded all the raw, real-time footage that I captured as I put this together. Feel free to fast forward. I was watching 2005's Pride and Prejudice while I sewed and I couldn't bring myself to edit out the story line, HOWEVER, YouTube is much better at dampening the background noise, so the effect may be lost. "What excellent boiled potatoes!" IYKYK
The deep textured hues of these Journal Covers are thanks to the special hand-dyed cotton from Cherrywood Fabrics in the colors, "Crimson" and "Eggplant". Cherrywood makes high-quality heavy cotton fabric that looks like suede. The colors are luscious! I used HALF of a fat quarter for the cover and another half for the lining. Even though this fabric is heavier than typical quilting cottons, I like to add a layer of something beefier when I assemble the Journal Cover. Here, I've added a basic canvas just to add some structure. Twill, duck, canvas, a heavy linen... all would work. You don't see this layer at all.
An embroidered ribbon has been added to the cover as embellishment. That's a quick way to add some interest without a lot of hand stitching.
