Kate's Favs

This page is a supplement to our in-person classes and is in no way comprehensive of the fabulous creativity in the stitching community.

How do you do that stitch?

There are so many stitch tutorials online that are much better than any I'd make! Here are some options:

  1. Jessica Long Embroidery- great set of videos for different stitches. Jessica runs Embroidery Bingo in February that's a fun way to try new stitches.
  2. Kiriki Press Stitch Library- a cool downloadable PDF of stitches and instructions. She includes some interesting stitches.
  3. Royal School of Needlework Stitch Bank- look up ANYTHING. They have both step-by-step and video tutorials for every stitch you can think of. If anything, the choice is overwhelming.

Where can I buy supplies?

  1.  NOT AMAZON. for SO MANY REASONS... just don't.
  2.  Snuggly Monkey- My first stop for "Modern Needlework Craft Supplies". Claudia has been a long time supporter of mine! She curates a fantastic mix of unique and necessary supplies.
  3. Maydel- Another great spot for great supplies, this time with special attention paid to ethical sourcing. She carries EVERY color of DMC.
  4. Buy directly from kit makers! (read on...)

Designers I like who makes kits!  (In no particular order... just as I thought of them.)
